Holidays in the heart of the Stelvio National Park

Explore one of the most glorious landscapes in Europe

Stretching over 135,000 hectares, the Stelvio National Park is one of the largest nature reserves in Europe. A privileged location for our Hotel Madatsch, that sits right in the heart of this natural shrine! The area is one of unique variety, both in terms of climate and wildlife. The village of Laces/Latsch in the lower Venosta/Vinschgau valley lies at 650 metres above sea level, while the wooded slopes reach up to 2,100 metres of altitude, with some high-mountain pastures touching the staggering height of 3,000 metres – not to mention the glacier areas surrounding Mt. Ortles/Ortlers.

At 2,757 metres, the Stelvio pass road is the second highest pass roads in the Alps. A number of national park houses – like the naturatrafoi in the village of Trafoi – offer the chance to take a closer look at this wonderful landscape. The exhibition provides fascinating insights into the geology of the Ortles Group and adaptation strategies of the local flora and fauna.

Starting from Hotel Madatsch, you can explore the Stelvio National Park at your leisure, choosing from the numerous walking, trekking and MTB trails available.
